Advance with a Secondary Education Math Degree

If you're already teaching math in grades 6–12, the traditional track is built to help you expand your skills and specialize in mathematics instruction. You'll take graduate-level courses in math content, curriculum development and classroom strategies that build on your existing experience. This path supports teachers who want to strengthen their instruction, pursue leadership roles or meet certification requirements. With a master's in teaching mathematics, you'll be prepared for long-term growth in secondary education.

How to Become a High School Math Teacher

If you're ready to teach but don't yet have classroom experience, the Alternative-A track offers a direct path into the profession. Designed for individuals who hold a bachelor's degree in a field other than education — or those seeking certification in a new teaching field — this program combines foundational coursework with a school-based internship where you'll learn to manage a classroom and teach math in grades 6–12. Choose the master's in math education online or on campus to prepare for licensure and build the skills to succeed in today's schools.
