Troy Campus Scholarships

Troy University offers several academic merit, leadership and alumni scholarships. Please thoroughly review the requirements and deadlines for each scholarship below. Scholarship applicants MUST be accepted through Admissions prior to applying for scholarships.

Troy University will accept both the previous SAT and the redesigned SAT (taken since March 2016). For scholarships the highest SAT scores will be determined by utilizing test score conversions set by College Board. SAT scores required for Admissions and scholarships only include the critical reading and math, no writing.

2018 Scholarship Application

Foundation Scholarships are generously donated to the University at various amounts with various requirements per the donors' discretion. Each applicant is allowed to apply for three Foundation Scholarships, with the possibility of being awarded only one. These scholarships are only for students attending the Troy, Alabama campus.

Academic scholarships are competitive academic merit based awards. These are not automatic awards.

The Millennium Scholar's Award

The award amount varies from $11,000- $15,000 annually. The academic requirements are 32 ACT /or 1450 RSAT and 3.7 GPA. An essay will be required with the scholarship application. Application deadline is December 1st.

The Chancellor's Award

The award amount varies from $7,000- $10,000 annually. Requirements are 28 ACT/ or 1320 RSAT and 3.5 GPA. An essay will be required with the scholarship application. Application deadline is December 1st.

The Transfer Merit and Transfer Achievement Scholarship

A Transfer Merit Scholarship is awarded for students with a 3.5 GPA or higher and would provide a $2,500 scholarship, while a Transfer Achievement Scholarship for $2,000 is available to students with a 3.25 GPA. This scholarship will only be available to those students who have completed at least 45 hours of transferable academic credit (non-technical) coursework. Application deadline is May 1st.

The Alumni Association Endowment Scholarship

This competitive scholarship is valued at half-tuition and is a four-year renewable award. Requirements are unconditional admissions to TROY with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to student whose family members hold a degree from TROY and are active members of the National Alumni Association. Application deadline is December 1st.

The Trojan Opportunity Expanded Scholarship

The amount of this award is equal to the out-of-state portion of tuition costs. Requirements: Unconditionally Admitted to TROY with at least a 3.0 GPA/4.0 scale and a 22 ACT/ or 1120 RSAT Must submit resume of leadership activities; Applicants must be from out-of-state. Application deadline is December 1st.

The Alabama Girls State Scholarship

$1,000 Non-Renewable.
Requirements: Unconditionally Admitted to TROY with at least a 3.0 GPA/4.0 scale; Must be or have been a participant & attendee of Alabama Girls State Program. Application deadline December 1st.

Leadership scholarships are based upon achievement in leadership positions in high school and junior or community college. Selection is generally based on an overall evaluation of the student's accomplishments by the Committee.

Excellence in Leadership Award

The amount of this competitive scholarship varies. Requirements are 23 ACT or/ 1130 RSAT with 3.0 GPA and a resume. Application deadline December 1st.

Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) Scholarship

$1,000 Non-renewable
Unconditionally Admitted to TROY with at least a 3.0 GPA/4.0 scale; Must be or have been a participant & attendee of the HOBY Conference at TROY. Application deadline December 1st.

Music Scholarships

Troy University awards a limited number of music scholarships. Students interested in band scholarships should write Director of Bands, Troy University, Troy, Alabama 36082. Army ROTC Four-Year Scholarship

The Army ROTC Four-Year Scholarship program is available to students who have graduated from high school or possess an equivalent certificate before September of the year they enter college. Students are awarded U.S. Army ROTC 4-year scholarships through a highly competitive national selection process. Scholarships pay full college tuition and mandatory educational fees, OR room and board, whichever is chosen by the student.Applicants should contact the Army ROTC scholarship and enrollment officer for more information. Air Force ROTC College Scholarship Program

High School Students: Full four-year and 3 year Air Force College Scholarships are available to qualified high school seniors. Those persons interested must apply directly to AFROTC Headquarters, Maxwell, AL 36112 by October 1st of each year.

General Military Scholarships

Three-year (sophomore, junior, & senior) and two-year (junior & senior) scholarships are available to qualified college students, both in the flying and non-flying areas, who are enrolled in the four-year or two-year ROTC program.

Nursing Scholarships

Several scholarships are available to those students who are admitted to the nursing programs. In addition, a number of $600 per year state nursing scholarships are available. Interested students should contact The School of Nursing,Troy University, Troy, Alabama 36082.

Athletic Scholarships

Theatre and Dance Scholarships

Each year the Department of Theatre and Dance awards over $100,000 in scholarships to performers, technicians, designers, and other deserving students who plan to study Theatre or Dance at TROY. Interested students should contact the Department of Theatre and Dance at Troy University in Troy, Alabama for more information.

The Troy University Military and Family Scholarship has been established to recognize the service of U.S. Active Military, Reserve and National Guard members by offering a scholarship to the service member, their spouse and/or dependent children.

The Scholarship reduces tuition to $250 per credit hour at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for this scholarship, the student must meet the following:

  • Must be currently serving in the active or reserve component of the US military


  • Must be the spouse or dependent child of a currently serving service member, including National Guard and Reserves.
  • Enrollment Status: Applicant or Enrolled
  • Degree program level: Associate, Undergraduate, or Graduate.
  • Service members need not submit an application for the scholarship (the military TA form will serve as your application).  Members who have exhausted their military TA funding or decide not to utilize TA funding, should request the scholarship via email to All eligibility requirements and award details for the TROY Military & Family Scholarship apply to service members. 
  • Scholarship Application must be received 2 weeks prior to the start of the Term or Semester for which the dependent is applying for the scholarship. 
  • Must submit completed Verification of Spouse or Dependent Status form to the Scholarship Coordinator no later than two (2) weeks prior to the start of the semester/term. Re-validation will be required each year not later than July, 31 to maintain scholarship. Download "Request for Verification of Spouse or Dependent Status" Form
  • Maintain a 2.0 Cumulative GPA at the Undergraduate level or a 3.0 Cumulative GPA at the Graduate level throughout the degree program.

Award Details:

  • This scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other scholarship or tuition assistance awarded by Troy University, certain VA Benefits (Ch. 33), or certain State benefits.
  • Amount of award will be dependent on the number of credit hours the scholarship recipient registers for each semester or term.
  • Amount of award will not exceed the credit hour requirements of the student’s initial program. Should the student change their degree program, they will be held to their original degree programs credit hour requirement.
  • Scholarship can only be used toward one degree at each level (one associate’s, one bachelor’s degree, and one master’s degree).
