Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Upsilon Alpha International Reading Association Honor
A reading and language arts honor society of the International Reading Association. Graduate students must be a major in the field of reading and/or language arts and have a recommendation by a reading/language arts faculty member. Shall have completed at least nine semester hours in reading or related areas of study at the graduate level, completed at least half of the coursework required for the advanced degree, and have at least a 3.5-grade point average in the area of concentration. Undergraduate students must have completed at least five semesters of undergraduate study or equivalent shall have completed at least one course in reading and/or language arts, and have a recommendation from a reading/language arts faculty member in the institution.
Delta Mu Delta National Business Honor Society (Membership by Invitation Only)
Delta Mu Delta is a national honor society in business administration. Undergraduate Students must be a candidate for a baccalaureate degree in business administration, have completed at least half the work required for the degree, and must have a cumulative grade point average for all college work completed of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale.
Gamma Beta Phi (Membership by Invitation Only)
An honor and service organization for students in colleges and universities in the United States. The student must have completed at least twelve semester hours at Troy University, Dothan and must have at least a 3.4 cumulative grade point average.
National Society of Leadership & Success
The Society is the nation’s largest leadership honor society. The student’s college selects members based on either academic standing or leadership potential. Candidacy is a nationally recognized achievement of honorable distinction. Member must be in good academic standing with at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average and attend at least one speaker broadcast.
This organization is affiliated with the Rotary Club of Dothan and will depend upon the continued active personal participation of the sponsor Rotary Club(s). Members must be a student at Troy University and have good character and leadership potential.
Sigma Alpha Sigma
The organization promotes a closer relationship between students and the community by helping people in need, providing support in the community, and stimulating students by activities which will contribute to their growth in the fields of Social Work, Human Services, and other related helping professions. Students from any major are accepted.
Sigma Eta Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi (Membership by Invitation Only)
An international honor society, which recognizes outstanding contributions to education. Undergraduate students invited to membership must be Troy University juniors with an overall grade point average of 3.5. Graduate students invited to membership must have an overall grade point average of 3.75.
Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society
This society encourages academic and personal success in the community through literacy and promotes the English language through grammar, composition, and editing strategies. English majors and minors who have a 3.5 grade point average is invited to join by way of a professor nomination.
Student Alabama Education Association (SAEA)
A pre-professional organization for education majors. Students may attend workshops and conferences to earn professional hours. Open to students enrolled in a postsecondary program.
Student Government Association (SGA)
All members of the student body belong to the Student Government Association. A multi-faceted organization, which promotes excellence in scholarship, coordinates and establishes reasonable standards for all student activities within the scope of the Student Government Association, encourages participation in social and educational group activities; promotes an open relationship between the student body and administration in matters of policy formation and student university activity, promotes the positive image of TROY within the local community, and serves as the official representative of the student body in matters concerning student life.
Student Nurses Association
Students enrolled in the Troy University at Dothan School of Nursing program are eligible. This association assumes responsibility for the nursing education in order to provide the highest quality of health care, provide programs representative of fundamental interests and concerns to nursing students, and to aid in the development of the whole person, professional role and the health care of people in all walks of life.
