About the M.S. in Applied Mathematical Sciences Degree at TROY
Build a strong foundation in statistics, discrete mathematics, mathematical physics, and research with the Master of Science in Applied Mathematical Sciences at Troy University. Designed to prepare graduates for high-demand careers in actuarial science, operations research, statistics, data science, and higher education, the program combines rigorous academic training with practical experience. In addition to advanced coursework, you'll complete a thesis or applied project, giving you valuable hands-on research experience and the opportunity to tackle real-world problems. TROY's M.S. in Applied Mathematical Sciences is the only degree of its kind in Alabama. Courses in statistics and discrete mathematics are offered online in convenient 9-week terms, while mathematical physics courses are delivered in person. Online students can participate in a live Microsoft Teams session each week or watch the recorded class on their own schedule. Whether you choose to study full time and finish in as little as two years or attend part time to better balance work and personal commitments, the program offers the flexibility to fit your life.
