Advancing fundamental understanding of the universe through research in relativity, cosmology and mathematical physics.
The Center for Relativity and Cosmology at Troy University seeks to answer fundamental questions about the universe in mathematical relativity, relativistic astrophysics and the interface between gravity and the quantum theory. The CRC also hosts visiting scholars and engages closely with graduate students in the Master's in Mathematical Physics program, providing structured opportunities for research collaboration, mentorship and advanced study in a scholarly setting.
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics and the Center for the Relativity and
Cosmology jointly hosts a master's in applied mathematical sciences in Mathematical
Physics. This program offers a rigorous curriculum that includes a study of global
Lorentzian geometry, causal structure, singularity theorems, the initial value problem
of the Einstein equation, quantum fields in curved spacetimes and Hawking radiation
from black holes.

The faculty of the Center for Relativity and Cosmology at Troy University are actively engaged in research, teaching and scholarly collaboration in theoretical physics and related fields. Their work spans areas such as mathematical relativity, relativistic astrophysics and the foundations of gravity and quantum theory.
Funds will be used primarily for travel associated with research collaborations and
presentations of published work, hosting community events to promote interest in astronomy,
astrophysics and cosmology, and to support visiting students, speakers and scholars.
