AREA I-V Recommendations
AREA I:
A grade of "C" or higher is required in Composition I and II at Troy University.
"D" grades will not transfer.
AREA II:
When selecting courses from Areas II and IV, please note that at least one 6sh sequence in either Literature (Area II) or History (Area IV) must be completed.
NOTE: TROY requires 12sh to be completed in Area II. In order to meet this requirement, students attending the community college are encouraged to complete the 3sh Literature course requirement, the 3sh Arts course requirement, and a remaining 6sh of Literature and/or Humanities credit to complete this Area II.
AREA III:
A grade of "C" or higher is required in the Math course chosen. "D" grades will not
transfer.
AREA IV:
When selecting courses from Areas II and IV, please note that at least one 6sh sequence in either Literature (Area II) or History (Area IV) must be completed.
NOTE: TROY requires 12sh to be completed in Area IV In order to meet this requirement, students attending the community college are encouraged to complete the 3sh History course requirement and a remaining 9sh of History and/or Social Science credit to complete this Area IV.
AREA V:
The remaining 23 SH in Area V can be obtained at the community college by taking 23 SH from the following:
- ORI 101 (Orientation to College)(1 SH)
- CHM 111 (College Chemistry I)(4SH)
- CHM 112 (College Chemistry II)(4SH)
- MTH 126 (Calculus II)(4SH)
- MTH 227 (Calculus III)(4SH)
- MTH 238 (Applied Differential Equations I)(3SH)
- MTH 265 (Elementary Statistics)(3SH)
Troy University Baccalaureate Degrees
The student seeking a baccalaureate degree must meet the following credit hour requirements:
- A minimum of 120 SH
- At least 50 percent of the degree program must be traditional academic credit.
- No more than 25 percent of the degree program may be earned using portfolio based credit.
- At least 25 percent of the degree program must be completed with Troy University.
- Twelve (12) semester hours of work in each major field must be completed in residence at Troy University.
