AREA I-V Recommendations

AREA I:

A grade of "C" or higher is required in Composition I and II at Troy University.  "D" grades will not transfer.

AREA II:

When selecting courses from Areas II and IV, please note that at least one 6sh sequence in either Literature (Area II) or History (Area IV) must be completed.

AREA III:

A grade of "C" or higher is required in the Math course chosen.  "D" grades will not transfer.

AREA IV:

When selecting courses from Areas II and IV, please note that at least one 6sh sequence in either Literature (Area II) or History (Area IV) must be completed.

AREA V:

NOTE:  CIS 146 is no longer required at TROY.  If taken, it will count as free elective credit only.

NOTE:  GEO 101 is listed on the transfer guide, but if transferring to TROY, it will only count as free elective credit. The upper level GEO 3300-Physical Geography should be completed at TROY.

 

The remaining 19sh in Area V can be obtained by taking 19sh from the following: 

  • ORI 101 (Orientation to College) (1 SH)
  • EVT 101 (Introduction to Environmental Science)(4 SH)
  • LDR 101 (Introduction to Leadership) (3 SH)
  • CIS 202 (Python Programming) (3 SH)
  • MTH 113 (Precalculus Trigonometry) (3sh) If not taken in Area III
  • MTH 265 (Elementary Statistics) (3 SH)
  • PHS 112 (Physical Science II) (4 SH) If not taken in Area III
  • Free Electives (1-5 SH)

 

Troy University Baccalaureate Degrees

The student seeking a baccalaureate degree must meet the following credit hour requirements:

  1. A minimum of 120 SH
  2. At least 50 percent of the degree program must be traditional academic credit.
  3. No more than 25 percent of the degree program may be earned using portfolio-based credit.
  4. At least 25 percent of the degree program must be completed with Troy University.
  5. Twelve (12) semester hours of work in each major field must be completed in residence at Troy University.
