Military & Family Scholarship

The TROY Military and Family Scholarship was introduced to further demonstrate the University's commitment to those who serve and those who support those who serve. It is also an important vehicle through which Troy University can express a meaningful “thank you for your service”. The Scholarship represents significant value and underlines the University's commitment to making higher education more affordable for our nation's military affiliated students.

The Scholarship reduces tuition to $250 per credit hour at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.

Eligibility Requirements

Actively Serving Military

Award Details:
  • The active-duty scholarship reduces TROY's current tuition rate to the Department of Defense (DoD) approved Military Tuition Assistance (TA) rate of $250 per credit hour. 
  • For actively-serving, this scholarship also covers the cost of required course materials/textbooks through the Trojan Book Bag program.
Eligibility and Requirements:
  • Must be currently serving in the active or reserve component of the US military.
  • Service members using Military TA will not need to submit an application for the scholarship. They will need to submit their approved TA form to taforms@troy.edu. The Military TA Form will serve as the scholarship application. 
  • Members who have exhausted their military TA funding or decide to not utilize the request the scholarship by emailing taforms@troy.edu. The request should include a current LES (personal information redacted) or similar to verify their active-duty status, along with their student ID number, expected term start date, military branch and military status. 
  • Awarded for one degree at each program level: Associate, Bachelor's, Master's or Doctoral. 
  • This scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other scholarship or tuition assistance awarded by Troy University, VA Benefits (except VA 1606) or certain State benefits. 
  • Amount of award will be dependent on the number of credit hours the scholarship recipient registers for each semester or term.

Military Spouse/Dependent Scholarship

Award Details:
  • The TROY Military and Family Scholarship reduces the rate of TROY's current tuition rate to the DoD rate of $250 for spouses and dependents of current serving military members. 
Eligibility and Requirements
  • Must be the spouse or dependent child of a currently serving service member of the U.S. Military, including National Guard and Reserves.
  • Awarded for one degree at each program level: Associate, Bachelor's, Master's or Doctoral
  • Must complete Verification of Spouse or Dependent Status form in the Scholarship Portal prior to the start of the semester/term. Re-validation will be required at the beginning of each academic year. 
  • This scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other scholarship or tuition assistance awarded by Troy University, VA Benefits (except VA 1606) or certain State benefits. 
  • Amount of award will be dependent on the number of credit hours the scholarship recipient registers for each semester or term.
