What is Welcome Week?

Welcome Week is a special week of events and activities at the beginning of the school year designed to help new and returning students get settled into campus life. At Troy University, Welcome Week is your official kickoff to college—a time to connect, explore, and celebrate the start of your Trojan journey.

Here's what Welcome Week usually includes:

  • Fun Events: Talent shows, parties, movie nights, free food, inflatables, games, and more
  • Campus Resources: Meet student organizations, campus departments, and support services
  • Community Building: Make friends, find your people, and start building your campus family
  • Traditions: Participate in special Troy traditions that make being a Trojan unique

Why it matters:
  • Helps you feel at home
  • Prepares you for academic and social life at Troy
  • Introduces you to involvement opportunities
  • Makes the transition to college easier and more exciting

The City of Troy is distinctive, offering residents and visitors a glimpse of individuality as well as all those unique comforts of home. From the many fabulous food and quaint shopping venues, to the historic town square, Troy offers a variety of ways to embrace its culture.

Troy Parks and Recreation is a proud member of the Alabama Recreation and Parks Association." The Recreation facility on Enzor Rd. offers a fitness center, several sports facilities, two pools, a walking trail, and a playground. There are several parks throughout Troy, AL to relax and unwind.

The Johnson Center for the Arts is housed in one of Troy, Alabama's, historic treasures, a classical-revival style post office, circa 1910, located just off the square in downtown Troy.

Things to Do

Troy, Alabama offers plenty of activities for area residents or people on vacation. When you visit Troy, you'll find a small town with a lot going on. It's a great place to visit, on business or vacation- friendly folks and small town atmosphere. Bring a taste for excitement and a desire to relax. We'll do the rest.

Pioneer Museum - from Trip Advisor

Pioneer Museum

The Pioneer Museum of Alabama interprets prehistoric Alabama as well as 18th and 19th century rural life.  Over twenty-two historic structures and eighteen thousand artifacts illustrate this rich, rustic heritage. Four thematic exhibition halls within our Main Gallery display historic farm equipment, textile arts such as quilting and weaving, material culture of pioneer Alabama, the archaeology of Southeastern Native Americans, militaria including Civil War and WWI, and Victorian Era Troy.

TroyFest

TroyFest, held in honor of Jean Lake, is the premier fine art & craft festival for the central Alabama region. The weekend long show draws upwards of 10,000 people to downtown Troy to celebrate the arts. As always, a wonderful selection of art, food, entertainment and activities will be offered for people of all ages.

Pike County Lake, Troy, AL

Pike County Lake

Pike County Lake originally opened in 1951, but time took its toll on the dam and the property, and it closed in 2012 for repairs. In June of 2016, the lake reopened after a major renovation partnership between the City of Troy, and the State of Alabama Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. The lake is now open six days a week, 12 months out of the year, closed on Wednesday and some holidays.

  1. Start at the Wellness Center.
  2. Turn left onto University Ave.
  3. Take it all the way down to S. Brundidge St. and take a right.
  4. Turn left at your next intersection which will be Elm St.
  5. Turn right at the next light which will be 3 Notch.
  6. Go down about a half a mile through the square and the church will be on your left.
First Missionary Baptist Church

Worship Service: 10:45 a.m.

  1. Start at the Wellness Center.

  2. Turn left onto University Ave.

  3. Take it all the way down to S. Brundidge St. and take a right.

  4. Take S. Brundidge St. until it turns into N. Brundidge St.

  5. The church will be on your right.

First United Methodist of Troy

Worship Service: 8:30 a.m. (Fellowship Hall) & 10:55 a.m.

  1. Start at the Wellness Center.

  2. Turn left onto University Ave.

  3. Take it all the way down to S. Brundidge St. and take a right.

  4. Turn left at your next intersection which will be Elm St.

  5. Turn right at the next light which will be 3 Notch.

          1. Go down about a half mile through the square and the church will be on your right.

Bush Memorial Baptist Church

Worship Service: 9:45 a.m. (Family Bible Study) & 10:30 a.m. (Worship Service)

  1. Start at the Wellness Center.

  2. Take a right on University Ave.

  3. Take your next right onto George Wallace.

    1. Go down a little less than a mile and the church will be on your right before you get to Sonic.

St. Martin's Catholic Church

Mass: 10:00 a.m., Lunch served afterwards

  1. Start at the Wellness Center.

  2. Take a right on University Ave.

  3. Take your next right onto George Wallace.

  4. Take George Wallace all the way to Hwy. 231 and take a right at the light.

  5. At the next light, which is the intersection on 231 and Elba Hwy., take a left.

    1. Go about a half a mile and the church will be on your left.

Park Memorial Methodist Church

Worship Services: 8:30 a.m. & 11:00 a.m.

  1. Start at the Wellness Center.

  2. Take a right on University Ave.

  3. Take your next right onto George Wallace.

  4. Take George Wallace all the way to Hwy. 231 and take a right at the light.

  5. At the next light, which is the intersection on 231 and Elba Hwy., take a left.

  6. Go about a half a mile and the church will be on your left.

Southside Baptist Church

Worship Service: 11:00 a.m.

  1. Start at the Wellness Center.

  2. Turn left onto University Ave.

  3. Take it all the way down to S. Brundidge St. and take a right.

  4. After about 0.1 miles, the church will be on your right.

Collegedale Church of Christ

Worship Service: 10:00 a.m.

This church is right across the street from the Wellness Center. It is within walking distance.

First Presbyterian Church

Worship Service: 11:00 a.m.

Go to the light at University Avenue and George Wallace Drive. You will see the church directly across the street. It is within walking distance.

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church

Worship Service: 9:30 a.m.

  1. Start at the Wellness Center.

  2. Turn left onto University Ave.

  3. Turn right onto S. Brundidge St.

  4. Turn left onto Elm St.

  5. Turn right onto N 3 Notch St., then immediately left onto W. Walnut St.

  6. Turn right onto Pine St. The church is on the left at the next intersection, at the corner of Pine St. and W. College St.

Saint Paul AME Church

Worship Service: 10:30 a.m.

  1. Head South on University Ave.

  2. Turn left onto George Wallace.

  3. Take George Wallace to Elm St.

  4. Make a left onto Elm St.

  5. Take a right on E. Academy St.

  6. The church is located on your right

Saint Peter Missionary Baptist

Worship Service:  9:00 a.m.

Troy Church

Worship Service: 10:00 a.m.

Location: Charles Henderson High School.

Vine Church

Worship Service:  9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

  1. Take University Ave. towards South Brundidge St.

  2. Go through the stop light at University and Park Ave.

  3. Building will be on your left with signs outside.

Christian Student Center (CSC)

Worship Service: Breakfast & Bible Study 9:00 a.m.

Located on George Wallace Drive and University Avenue.
