Welcome to the Department of Leadership Development and Professional Studies. We are a diverse department made up of both Teacher Certification graduate programs, Adult Education, and Second Language Instruction. Instructional Leadership and Administration (ILA), is available at the master’s level (including a Reduced-Hour Option for people who have a masters already) and the Education Specialist level. Teacher Leader (TL) is available at the Education Specialist level. Both ILA and TL programs are available for students who want to be leaders in P-12 schools and lead to Professional Educator Certification in Alabama. Our Adult Education graduate program is comprised of three concentrations – Curriculum and Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, and Leadership Studies. Within the three concentrations, four certificates are available – Curriculum and Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Leadership Studies, and Workforce Development. Also included in our department is the Second Language Instruction graduate program where our students learn about pedagogy and teaching language to non-native speakers. Our department stretches to four Alabama campuses, online, and two Global Campus sites. Department faculty and staff welcome your inquiries about our programs and want to serve your needs.
